LAKEWOOD MOBILIZE MISSION STATEMENT
Lakewood Mobilize exists to serve those in need where passion for God meets compassion for people.
What is Lakewood Mobilize?
When crises happen, a unique mission field develops as people ask the questions, “why?” and “what now?” In times like these, previously closed doors can become opportunities to share the gospel. Churches can be uniquely equipped to respond; developing relationships that allow the church to love God and people and make disciples as they act as the hands and feet of Jesus.
It is impossible, however, to know when a disaster will come. With this in mind, ReachGlobal Crisis Response launched the Mobilize Initiative; an effort to establish disaster response ministry teams within churches. These teams would send both short and long term volunteers to serve when disasters occur. Lakewood, along with Mountain Life EFC in Park City, Utah, was one of the first to join and has since sent teams and individuals to Louisiana, Colorado, Alabama, New York, New Jersey, Texas, South Carolina and Haiti. More recently, we responded to disasters in the Brainerd Lakes Area conducting clean up following a house fire in Pillager and clearing trees and other storm debris in the wake of last July’s storm.
So what is Lakewood Mobilize? It is a team of volunteers who gather regularly to encourage each other, train in crisis response, raise funds for future opportunities and stand ready to deploy when the call comes whether in our neighborhood or around the world.
