Pass the Faith
At Lakewood, we believe that the home is intended to be the primary environment for passing on the faith to the next generation (Deut. 6:4-9). The Church plays an important, complementary role by equipping parents and supplementing what children are learning at home (Psalm 78:1-8).
To that end, Lakewood Children's Ministry seeks to teach Biblical truths, and to provide special events and equipping opportunities that help strengthen the bond between the parent, child, and the church.

Scripture clearly teaches that God has ordained the home to be the best environment for passing on faith in Christ to the next generation. When parents choose to dedicate their child to the Lord, they are also dedicating themselves to the privilege and responsibility of raising that child in the "training and instruction of the Lord" (Eph. 6:4). As an Evangelical Free Church, Lakewood offers this opportunity to parents of children of any age.
Do you or your child have questions about baptism? Has your child expressed a desire to be baptized? A baptism class is offered at various times during the year, usually several weeks prior to an upcoming baptism service. This one-hour class is designed especially for parents and their children, but all ages are welcome to attend. Together, we will explore what the Bible says about baptism and discuss Lakewood's practice of believer's baptism. Upcoming class dates will be listed in the Lakewood HotSheet and on the online calendar.
Do you need help determining if your child is ready to join in the Lord's Supper? A communion class is offered twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. It is designed for parents and their children to investigate together what the Bible teaches about communion, and to discuss Lakewood's practices related to this ordinance. Upcoming class dates will be listed in the Lakewood HotSheet and on the online calendar.
